Marquis Perkins is a portrait and fashion photographer based in New York, originally from Virginia. His work centers on Black presence — its depth, its elegance, its refusal to be reduced. He photographs musicians, cultural figures, and fashion subjects with equal attention to what they carry beneath the surface — the weight of identity, the unguarded moment that lives just past the pose. His editorial work has appeared in Time and OkayAfrica; his commercial clients include Lincoln, Gap, Estée Lauder, L’Oréal, Meta, and Savant. For Perkins, fashion and portraiture are the same practice: both are acts of witness.
